Telling compelling stories is the most important duty for any reporter. I have worked extensively in many different newsrooms and have made adjustments to my work in all of them. I realize every newsroom has different ways of doing things and I am confident I can excel in any newsroom environment and tell compelling stories.

Reporter KBIA Radio (NPR) 91.3

Job Description: KBIA FM 91.3 is Columbia's NPR radio station serving all of mid-Missouri. As a reporter with KBIA, I produced long form NPR stories on business, politics, the arts, education as well as science and technology. The reports last from 2-6 minutes and are featured on weekly shows on KBIA.

Work:

Guy Darrow, the dinosaur lover: Guy Darrow is a self taught archeologist. Darrow has loved searching and finding interesting artifacts and has put his findings in a museum he founded. Darrow and his team are now searching for the first Missouri Dinosaur.

Columbia family survives through tough economic times: In times of economic crisis, families do what they can to get by. Michelle and Patrick Schnokie are no exception. With three children, Patrick and Michelle are doing what they can to support their family the best way they know how.

The last Twighlight Festival in Columbia: The Twighlight Festival in Columbia has been an event for local businesses to showcase themselves to local residents. Originally created as a "family" event, the Twighlight Festival has attracted more of a younger crowd according to businesses, which lead to its decline.

Weathering kits help families save money: During the winter months, heating bills increase. Low income families in Columbia can now receive "weathering kits" to help lower the cost of energy their home uses. The kits are installed by volunteers and help conserve energy and money for Columbians.

Columbia parks and recreation hold FOWL shoot: The Columbia Parks and Recreation department holds a free throw shooting contest every year. The contest is called the "FOWL SHOOT" and for a dollar you can win a turkey; just in time for Thanksgiving.

Job Description: The Missourinet is a state-wide radio network in Missouri with more than 60 affiliates across the state. MissouriNet also has a strong web presence. At the MissouriNet, I helped develop and produce piece readers, story segments, hourly news updates and two-minute sports casts about news in Missouri.

Job Description: KOMU- TV 8 is an NBC station in Columbia serving thousands of mid-Missourians. I've reported news and sports for various KOMU newscasts.

Work:

E-coli found at the Lake of the Ozarks: While swimming at the Lake of the Ozarks this summer, it may be wise to take some sanatizer. Lake has been linked to recent findings of e-coli.

Boone County Jail is above the legal limit: Crime is up in Columbia and the Boone county jail is reaching the legal limit. This story takes a look at how local law enforcement is dealing with the overcrowding.


Job description: The Columbia Missourian is one of Columbia’s two newspapers. I was a multimedia reporter for the Missourian and helped to enhance stories print reporters were working on.

Work:

Cyclists Ride to “Free Tibet” from oppression: The Summer Olympics in China has brought demonstration opposing China's treatment of the country of Tibet. In Columbia, bikers road the streets to "Free Tibet" from China's oppression of the Tibet.

Benefit for MIke Maniaci at the Blue Note: Mike Maniaci is a student who was severly injured during spring break last year. Maniaci's fraternity held a benefit for him and his family at the Blue Note in Columbia.
